Regarding Hyundai Motor’s announcement of its transaction with Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co. (HEC), there have been following criticisms :

- The government encourages inter-affiliate assistance within the group

- This may pose additional burden on the corporate governance reform and the 2nd round corporate restructuring efforts

- This may mean “a setback on Chaebol reform efforts”
