The FSC/FSS hereby issues a correction to an online Dow Jones Newswires article entitled “S. Korea FSC Chmn: Asia Can’t Keep Financing US Debt” by James Simms. Chairman Yoon did not say “Asia can’t keep financing US debt” as the title of the Dow Jones newswires article stated and suggested. Chairman Yoon merely noted, in a reference to various regional issues that call for close cooperation among the region’s supervisory authorities, that the trade imbalance between Asia and the U.S. could potentially pose a risk to the global financial system. The speech by Chairman Yoon was strictly confined to a need for close cooperation among the region’s supervisory authorities.
