The FSC has newly appointed Dr. Kim Yong-Hwan, currently serving as Standing Commissioner of the FSC, as Senior Deputy Governor for the FSS.
Dr. Kim joins the FSS with a long and distinguished record of public service at the finance ministry and the FSC. He began his career in government in 1980 at the finance ministry, where he primarily dealt with securities policy and supervision. In May, 2001, Dr. Kim moved to the Financial Supervisory Commission-predecessor to the FSC-and took charge of Financial Supervision Policy Bureau II before assuming the post of Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission in March, 2007. Dr. Kim became Standing Commissioner of the Financial Supervisory Commission (and later FSC) in January and served in the post until his appointment at the FSS.
Dr, Kim graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a B.A. in Economics in 1980. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Kyunghee University.
