FSC Vice Chairman Kim So-young attended a seminar on July 20 hosted by the Korea Exchange and the Korea Capital Market Institute and spoke about ways to enhance fairness and transparency in the convertible bond market. In his speech, Vice Chairman Kim discussed the need to have ways to effectively avert unfair trading practices using convertible bonds. In this regard, Vice Chairman Kim said that it is necessary to increase transparency in the process of convertible bonds' issuance and distribution. In addition, as there exist problems associated with convertible bonds being issued in excessive volumes, Vice Chairman Kim said that there needs to be measures to improve this issue. Lastly, for unfair trading practices using convertible bonds, Vice Chairman Kim said that the financial authorities will strengthen their investigative capacity and deal with them with stern measures.
