Chairman Lee Eog-weon of the Financial Services Commission visited a local bank in Seoul to meet with small business owners and check the operation of the newly launched small business credit bureau (SCB) on September 1. The SCB was launched for pilot operation by eight banks from August 31, offering an array of benefits exclusively for small business owners in the form of enhanced credit standing, increased loan amount, and lower lending rate. During his visit, Chairman Lee spoke about the need to make sure that there are wide opportunities available for businesses that have significant growth potential. In this regard, Chairman Lee said that the introduction of the SCB as a means to boost our inclusive finance efforts will help to create more opportunities for small businesses by allowing lenders to make use of a variety of nonfinancial data to evaluate the future growth prospect of small businesses.
