Chairman Lee Eog-weon of the Financial Services Commission signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with officials from related organizations to strengthen the provision of microfinance support in Gangwon State (formerly known as Gangwon-do Province) on September 4. In close coordination with Shinhan Bank, authorities will help to establish a local microfinance support center in Gangwon State. In his congratulatory remarks, FSC Chairman Lee spoke about the importance and necessity of seeking a balanced growth across different regions as a sustainable growth strategy for the Korean economy. In this regard, Chairman Lee said that the establishment of a comprehensive microfinance support center in Gangwon State will help to build more ladder of hope to assist vulnerable groups in the region.
